June 11, 2009 - Arizona Senate Committee Approves Pro-Life Bills on Abortion, End of Life Issues
 

Phoenix, AZ (LifeNews.com) -- Arizona Senate committees on Wednesday provided pro-life advocates with several victories by approving a handful of key bills. The measures will not head to the full Senate for a debate and vote and pro-life advocates hope they will move through the legislative process to pro-life Gov. Jan Brewer.

The Senate Public Safety and Human Services Committee approved state ban on partial birth abortion (SB 1138), the Abortion Consent Act (SB 1206), and an end of life measure pertaining to the removal of food and fluids (SB 1448).

Women's Pregnancy Center - El Camino
 

A new CPC satellite site opened April 30, 2009.  Women's Pregnancy Center-El Camino is located on the far east side of Tucson (7777 E. Speedway) in an area adjacent to the sanctuary of El Camino Baptist Church.  After much prayer, training, and planning, Pastor Ron Rushing and the church elders voted to partner with CPC and provide accommodations to do pregnancy testing and options education/information. 

Three members from their congregation are currently staffing it: CPC veterans Ruth Applegate, Priscilla Hagerty, and Ruth Stark.  Many more congregants have volunteered to staff their prayer team and a few more are currently training or plan to attend the upcoming Volunteer Trainings.  This may be the model for CPC to reach more women, men and children in our community!  And WPC-El Camino has already had a client who said that she was looking for a church home...this looks like it will be a win-win situation!  CPC looks forward to more partnerships with local churches.  (see pictures of new satellite site)
